AEROBIC INSTRUCTOR SYNDROME... SOUNDS GOOD BUT LOOKS AND FEELS BAD!
Have you ever heard of something called, the Aerobic Instructor Syndrome?
After observing thousands and thousands of people “putting in their time” at athletic clubs and gyms all across America, there is one thing that is perfectly clear to me. Even people who are putting out an effort are falling short of achieving their goals.
Why?
Well, let’s consider something I will call the “Aerobic Instructor Syndrome”. The fitness professional or individual whose life is beset with this syndrome has the characteristics and attributes:
Very Active and Goal Driven
Spends Numerous Hours at the Workout Facility
Train Themselves and Others “Hard”
Consumes Low-Fat and Non-Fat Foods
Believe Results are Directly Related to Working Hard and Eating Less
Now, let’s take a look at what kind of results that this Syndrome produces:
Struggles with Energy Levels
Constant Nagging Pains or Even Injuries
Not as Alert as Once Was
Holds Fat Around the Middle
Loss of Muscle Mass
Total Burn Out
The Aerobic Instructor Syndrome shows the perfect example of someone who has all of the right intentions and is even willing to put the time and effort towards their goal, but follows misinformation regarding getting fit and staying healthy.
The Aerobic Instructor Syndrome individual focuses on “Quantity” rather than “Quality” in their endeavor to meet their fitness goals. “Quality” in everything that you do will always reap far greater rewards. ALWAYS. Yes, EVERY TIME!
NUTRITION
Quantity-Counts calories and consumes low-fat and non-fat foods.
Quality-Focuses on nutrient dense high quality foods, frequency, and combinations.
EXERCISE OR MOVEMENT PROGRAM
Quantity-It is “what” and “how many” you do that matters.
Quality-It “how” you do “what” you do that matters!
CARDIOVASCULAR/RESPIRATORY OR AEROBIC TRAINING
Quantity-Viewed as the only time to “burn” calories.
Quality-Viewed as a time to improve hormonal responses and stress reduction.
SLEEP
Quantity-A time to rest.
Quality-A recuperative time for your body and essential systems, including endocrine and immune.
WATER
Quantity-Drink at least 64 ounces of any fluid a day.
Quality-Drink at least 80 ounces of pure or purified water that still has essential minerals in it.
SUPPLEMENTS
Quantity-You Must at least take a One a Day, don’t worry about the quality.
Quality-Save your money and put the extra cash towards better quality food for your family.
You see, many people are not achieving desired results because of lack of effort, but because of lack of knowledge. The conventional wisdom and the politically correctness of our nation’s health and fitness industry has led us astray. We need to not “work harder”, but “work smarter”.
Remember, it isn’t:
"NO PAIN, NO GAIN" it's "NO BRAIN, NO GAIN"
Please don’t fall victim to the Aerobic Instructor Syndrome!
